Promo Portrait 1 - CopyI live and work in Edinburgh, I grew up here and I love it.  My pastel sketches mainly depict beloved scenes and landscapes from Edinburgh and surrounding areas.  I find the scenery in Scotland captivating and sometimes I forget just how beautiful this place is until I’m inspired by a new (or old) view and begin sketching it.  I am self taught and have always loved sketching but had never tried pastels before until I stumbled upon an unopened set that was given to my son as a gift.  That was in 2009 and I haven’t stopped since.  I sometimes like to take my easel and chalks and sketch outdoors from life but mostly I love to shut myself away in the sanctuary that is my home studio.  I can while away many an hour there at the easel creating new pieces.  I do what I love and I love what I do.

My work is available as original sketches (where available), limited edition prints, mini prints, calendars, mugs and cards.  I regularly exhibit for Cancer Research UK at their annual exhibition and at East Linton’s annual art exhibition and competition where my sketch Cramond Causeway won first prize in 2013 in the mixed media category.

I welcome commissions and can work a sketch from your favourite photos.  These can be pets, people or even a cherished place such as the church where you got married or a favourite spot.

For 2 years between 2011 and 2013 I was resident artist at The Scotsman Hotel where my work was on display in the North Bridge Brasserie and the Grand Reception hallway. This was an amazing experience that I will never forget.  The building itself used to be home to The Scotsman newspaper and is steeped in history.  My original sketch of the building itself was sold in 2012 and was replaced with a new composition Christmas At The Scotsman.

I can often be found exhibiting at craft fairs in and around Edinburgh.  Please check out my Facebook page at Carolanne Jardine Art for regular updates as well as special offers and sneak previews of new works.  If you have any questions, please send me a message, I’ll be glad to help.
